We approached the interior design of the home with deference to the house’s architecture and country setting, while infusing a contemporary, casual aesthetic that spoke to an urban client looking to unwind. Inspired by the casual elegance of the California Craftsman style, the palette is warm and eclectic, textured and rustic. A first hint of the home’s new personality, an Arne Jacobsen Egg chair sits comfortably on a Moroccan rug, next to a rustic root coffee table and cozy Troscan daybed. Belting leather dining chairs populate a concrete dining table with wall-mounted deer antlers, a nod to country living. In the sunroom, a Roman Thomas sofa upholstered in creamy bouclé fabric pairs with a Richard Wrightman lounge chair and petrified stump tables, creating a modern interpretation of a wood paneled lodge. The home is used for weekend unwinding as well as impromptu family gatherings.
